Grip events are one of the rare and often neglected categories that is still instrumental to being a good strongman. Grip events consist of any discipline that requires intensive use of the grip. This event category can range from zero to two of five events within a competition, that is 0-40% of points being tied to this disciple. A note of interest, one of the reasons I have addressed this category later in the article is because it is not as prevalent in competition as it once was. It is true that you can count on one event in a contest to be a grip event, but often times, there are no grip events in a contest. Grip events include farmers walk, arm over arm pull, and a few others. These events are likely the smallest category on this list, but make no mistake, many athletes have lost placings over a weak grip!
